50th anniversary of the installation
of Weaver's sculpture of Charlie Russell

Gov. Brian Schweitzer, Jack Weaver, and Society Director Richard Sims celebrate the 50th anniversary of the installation of Weaver's sculpture of Charlie Russell in Statuary Hall in the nation's capitol. The statue behind the three is an exact and the only other cast of Weaver's sculpture of Russell. Weaver was curator at the Montana Historical Society in the 1950s and 1960s and said he was surprised that the Society and the state had invited him back for the celebration. Weaver now lives in British Columbia and in an internationally known sculptor. Each state is allowed only two people in Statuary Hall, and Montana's other inductee is Jeannette Rankin.
