front cover: Montana The Magazine of Western History, Autumn 2008

Cover Art Description:

Captured in fabric and stitches, the quilted Montana landscape on the front cover was named Green Hills for Scottie by quiltmaker Shelly Van Haur of Hilger. Made for Van Haur's friend Frances "Scottie" Byerly in 1995, the quilt (MHQP 08-109-02, courtesy Frances S. Byerly, PhD, and Shelly Van Haur) was inspired by a mountain scene in the Gallatin National Forest near Bozeman. For the story of Montana quilts and quiltmakers, read the articles by Annie Hanshew and Mary Murphy's articles that start on page 23.
