Use this form to submit your research request. This is a fee-based service. You can pay online with a credit card.

Is there a fee for this service?

MHS Members receive two (2) complimentary research requests each year. This means two of any combination of general, genealogy or photograph research, not two of each type of research. Members must enter their membership expiration date (mm/yyyy) to receive this member benefit. Resident and nonresident fees apply once annual benefit is used.



What are we researching?

Enter a person AND/OR an event. Use the description field to provide details. If you enter an event, please provide the date of event and event location. NOTE: An "Event" might be a marriage or a death.





Where would you like us to look?

Limit: 3 selections per request

For example, one genealogy search may include up to three of the following:

- a search for a surname in a local county history for one county
- a search for a household or individual in a city directory
- a search for one household in a census' a search for one obituary
- a search for one marriage license

Obituary or Newspaper Article
Census Data (Indicate which census. There was no 1890 census in MT.)

City Directory (Specify 10-year span and city, i.e. 1870-1880, Billings)


Marriage Licenses (Enter date as mm/dd/yyyy and specify county)

After submitting your request, you will be presented with online payment options. Payment is required before we can begin to research your request. MHS Members eligible to receive a complimentary research request do not need to provide any further information after submitting this form.
