The Research Center of the Montana Historical Society maintains and provides access to the Secretary of State Business Entity Records. These records include articles of incorporation, annual reports and other fiscal information for domestic and foreign companies who conduct business in Montana from the 1860s to the present.
Fees & Payment
If you are unable to visit our Research Center to conduct your own research, our staff will answer general research questions for a small fee.Defining Your Search
All Business Entity records are accessed by a filing number that must be obtained from the Secretary of State Business entity website (see http://app.mt.gov/bes ). Use the search function on that site to locate a general description of the company you are interested in. In that description will be a filing number. Please include that number, along with the full title of the company, in your request.Submitting Your Request
You can submit your request online and pay with a credit card, or send your request by mail along with a check made payable to "Montana Historical Society Research Center" (see mailing address printed on form).Fullfillment
